Hi this is the first publicationon this blog

I am Peter Mc Bride one of the Dalton Councillors
see my annual report of work in council

News for Dalton residents:

RAWTHORPE

I have pressed for residents parking on matchdays for years. At last Highways have agreed. It will happen at the beginning of next season.

I am also talking with residents at the top of Netherall Ave about putting dropped kerbs and hard standing in to take more cars off the road.
Let me know what you think.

DALTON

At last we have the Library and information and Childrens Centre in Harpe Inge. The Library is already well used but please note the library is for all residents and the facility is for all age groups.

I am stillworking with the Health Trust to get a Health Centre with doctors surgury opposite.Things look hopeful but we may have to be patient for a year or so.
WATERLOO ALBANY ROAD

I am pleased that normal bus services have been restored to Waterloo Road.It looked like we were going to lose them in the Autumn but I persuaded Metro to restore the bus on the basis of use it or lose it,so the moral of the story is obvious.Early reports on usage is good fortunately

Meanwhile in Edgeware Road there is an ongoing problem of flooding.I am working with local residents And Highways to get to the bottom of the problem.

THE LAKES

Roads in the Lakes are in a really bad condition. i have set in motion a program of repair which will start in early March. The worst part of Kirkstone Ave will be rebuilt. After May probably in the Autumn Langdale will be completely resurfaced. It is a slow process but I am trying to direct the limited resources membersare allocated to the roads with the worst surfaces.

MOLDGREEN

The Moldgreen Neighbourhood Watch have told me about the drug dealing in Kilner Bank Quarry. The Police have been informed and asked to attend the next meeting.

STANDIFORTH

There is still a problem with parking outside Tescos despite the double yellow lines which i Had introduced and regular visits by the wardens.I have asked Tescos to dedicate the large paving area at the front and side of the shop as aparking area. until they do customers will get regular fines by the wardens

KIRKHEATON

There is good news at upper Heaton. Local residents and myself have met with Highways to try and make life safer up there. The 40 mph limit is to be reduced to 30 and better warning signs of the sharp bend are to be installed . Anne Hirstle has worked particularly hard to get pavement on one side of the road from Colne Bridge to the top of the Hill.Itis not perfect but it is abig improvement.
At last we seem to be to getting somewhere with Matrix, the recycling company. For2 years residents of Newlands and School Lane have had problems of noise and light pollution, lorry parking and material being dumped outside, all in breach of Planning conditions. Following numerous complaints and countless meeting which I have chaired. The company has been taken to Court by Planning, and now appear wiling to act on the complaints and be a responsible neighbour.

The proposed Health Centre:

This will be welcome in the centre of the village but not next to the Community Centre.

That green area has traditionally been the location for galas and other village festivities.I am glad the developer has seen sense. Now i am workin with a community group to establish the field as a village green.

I have developed this blog to keep you uptodate with what is going on in the ward.If you want to contact me by giving me your views on any of these items or any others where I might help or ring me on 01484 531760

Dalton Ward Communities Support Group has a blog worth looking at.

Bye for now
